rare and valuable service for high level legal professionals

“Shauna,

I wanted you to know that I have accepted a position with [healthcare company] as Chief Administrative Officer, effective as of [date]… I am very excited about this position for the range of responsibilities that I will have. Reporting to me will be the [heads of 5+ cross-disciplinary] functions [including legal and compliance]. I was really not interested in a role that would have me limited to legal only.

[And] certainly you are correct about the length of time for job seeking for someone at my level.

I wanted you to know that I highly valued the work that we did together. When I called you, I had a terrible résumé and almost no real job-seeking experience. As I said, for 27 years, I had never had to look for a job (except out of law school)...

Anyway, my point is that I think you provide a rare and valuable service for high level legal professionals. I would certainly be happy to provide a testimonial or any other support I can offer. Thanks again.”

a great sign

“Shauna, Hope you’re having a great week! Wanted to give you an update on my results this week. I applied to an open position at [AmLaw 50] via the chair of the group and he responded that they had just closed the position but would keep me in mind if another one became available. I thought that was a great sign considering it’s big law and the transfer I’m trying to make. So thanks again for the help with the résumé and cover letter, they seem to be doing exactly what I needed them to do!”

job and salary offer

“Hi Shauna, [AmLaw 100 law firm] called me with a job and salary offer not long after you and I spoke. They offered $120k + $20k bonus, and said there is some room to negotiate. I told them I needed some time to think about it, and they had no problem with that. One of the partners kindly offered to put me in touch with a few of their associates to get some perspective, so I’ll be speaking with them tomorrow. I also discovered that a former [government] colleague went to work for [the same law firm] for a year, so I’m hoping she’ll respond to my LinkedIn message and give me some insight over the weekend. I’ll keep you posted on my decision. Thank you as always!”
